Why We Homeschool Pt. 1
As we wrap our 3rd year as a homeschool family, we're reflecting on all the benefits of homeschooling and why we continue to choose this lifestyle. And yes, it absolutely is a lifestyle choice.
Aside from the academic mastery that often accompanies homeschooling, which is like private tutoring that delivers content in ways best absorbed and understood by the child, (more on that in part 2) I want to focus this video on the indirect benefits that confirm our choice to homeschool year after year.
The indirect benefits are:
less stress,
more time,
and increased quality of relationships.
Not having to abide by the often stressful and "rat race" -like school schedule has allowed our family to be well rested, more present, show up as our best selves, and truly enjoy our time spent together. It's a slower daily pace of life, but one that allows more creativity, and organic and child-led learning.
This allows our son more time for experiential and hands-on learning. More time engaging in things he's curious about; like exploring nature, and experiencing the world around him.
Finally, it allows him more time to engage with family and friends, cultivate strong bonds, meet new children, be in the sun, move his body, play and have fun, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Yes, some days can be challenging. Yes, we're learning and improving each year. Yes, we love this lifestyle and we're looking forward to where our adventures take us next!
